What is dental implants?

A dental impant serves as an artificial replacement for the root of a missing tooth. A post made of titanium alloy is integrated to the jaw bone to act as an anchor for a replacement tooth, crown or denture. Dental implants are a wonderful alternative to dentures and a great way to replace missing teeth, restoring function and giving you back a natural and confident smile.

Dr. Will or Dr. Bao will tailor a treatment plan to your specific situation and the condition of the jawbone. The total treatment time can take six months to more than a year depending on the complexity.

Diagnostic x-rays and a Cone Beam scan will be obtained prior to surgery and throughout the procedure to establish and maintain the condition of the underliying structures. Careful and detailed planning is required to identify vital structures such as bone density that may affect the duration and cost of the treatment.

For a dental implant procedure to work the quantity and quality of the jaw bone must be strong enough to support the implant. If there is not enough bone, more may need to be aded with a bone graft procedure.
