Clear Aligners in Highgate Hill, QLD

patient learning about invisalign in highgate hillFor many people, oddly spaced, crooked, crowded and misaligned teeth can be difficult to keep clean, and may increase the risks for certain health conditions.

While it might seem to be all about vanity when people straighten their teeth, it may actually promote better oral health. Teeth that are difficult to brush or floss can develop into serious dental issues like tooth decay, gum disease, worn enamel, bruxism and jaw joint pain and tooth loss.

It would seem that orthodontic treatment is a clear win, yet many adults are hesitant about initiating orthodontic treatment.

For many with professional careers, metal wire and brackets just don't fit into a certain lifestyle. While traditional metal braces are reliable, they are hardly subtle. Many adult patients would rather forego a straighter smile than endure months or years with a mouthful of metal. It seems that they are not alone in this.

Modern dentistry has come to a discreet and imperceptible solution: invisible braces.

What Are Invisible Braces?

Invisible braces can address a comprehensive list of common bite misalignments like underbites, overbites, crossbites, overcrowding, gapped teeth and more. While metal braces require constant visits to your Highgate Hill dentist to tighten the wires, aligners such as Invisalign®, Spark® and Angel Align® allow us to create multiple sets of aligner trays that patients wear for two weeks before moving on to the next one. Each aligner creates small adjustments that are visible as your smile changes.

Patients only need to schedule follow-up visits every six months, which saves busy patients money, time and effort. Treatment times vary. This should be considered an estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

So, you've begun your journey to a straightened, more orderly smile, thanks to Invisalign®, Spark or Angel Align. To achieve maximum benefits, patients should wear their clear aligners for most of the day and night, but what about keeping them clean?

Tips for Keeping Your Aligner Trays Clean

To keep your mouth clean and avoid unwanted odours or tastes from trays, patients can clean their Invisalign trays in the following ways:

  • Brush your teeth, floss and use alcohol-free mouthwash
  • Rinse out your aligners with water daily (avoid hot water, as it may damage trays)
  • Use a soft brush with a clear, liquid soap or aligner cleaner to keep aligners clean and free of stray food particles.
  • Store aligners safely in a protective case
  • Remove aligners if you are drinking anything else other than water.

Benefits of Keeping Your Aligner Trays Clean

Sure, cleaning your aligner trays can take extra time, and some patients may have demanding schedules. However, keeping your trays clean can benefit your oral health in several ways:

  • Excess food particulates stay out of your teeth and gums
  • Your breath can stay fresh
  • You can avoid unwanted buildup of bacteria
  • Dirty aligners can yield less-effective results

Do you ever wonder how your smile would look if you'd had braces in the past? Maybe you get food stuck in your teeth due to crooked or disorderly teeth. What are your options? Patients who straighten their smiles can benefit their overall oral health and enhance their cosmetic appearance. Instead of relying on traditional braces, patients straighten their teeth with Invisalign, Spark or Angel Align.

What Are Invisible Braces?

Invisible braces, also known as clear aligners, are a highly effective alternative to braces. These includes brands such as Invisalign, Spark and Angel Align, and are each an orthodontic treatment that straightens and aligns teeth using transparent, nearly 'invisible' aligner trays.

How Do Invisible Braces Work?

To straighten teeth without the hassle of the metal, wires, and rubber bands, a series of clear aligner trays gradually shift teeth over time and achieve higher uniformity in a smile. Patients should wear their trays during the day and overnight, only removing them to eat or drink (in most cases).

How Can Invisible Braces Improve My Smile?

At Be Well Dental, our patients can benefit from an Invisalign, Spark or Angel Align treatment in several ways:

  • Improved cosmetic appearance
  • Higher sense of self-esteem in social situations and photos
  • Easier to clean teeth
  • Improved oral health

The Clear Aligner Process at Be Well Dental

patient during Invisalign exam in highgate hill QLDInvisible braces use a series of BPA-free clear plastic aligner trays to replace traditional brackets and wires. These custom-fabricated trays gently shift crooked or crowded teeth into their preferred position.

During your first appointment with one of our dentists, we use digital x-rays to take an impression of your teeth and gums. These impressions are instrumental in designing a 3-D relief of your smile that will be used in fabricating your personalised aligner trays.

Once you start the aligner process, we recommend seeing you every six weeks to keep track of your treatment and ensure everything is functioning as it should be. We will hand over three new sets of aligners during each visit until your smile is complete.

For best results, aligner trays should be worn for 20 to 22 hours daily, only to be removed before meals and for brushing and flossing.

Common Advantages of Clear Aligner Therapy in Highgate Hill, QLD

  • As the name suggests, clear aligners are virtually invisible

  • Trays are removable so patients can eat anything they please
  • Less pain and discomfort
