What is gum disease?

Gum disease is a chronic infection of the gums caused by a buildup of plaque and bacteria. In early stages (gingivitis), gums become red, swollen, and may bleed. If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, which can damage the bone supporting your teeth and eventually lead to tooth loss.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, and we recommend seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner before proceeding.
